Personality & TraitsEdit
General Overview Edit
Kenneth Travan is not what you would refer to as a textbook commander. His father always told him to rely on his gut feelings in any situation. This has led to a reputation for what some would call "flying by the seat of his pants".
His charisma and determination have brought him through the ranks of Starfleet at a pace even he has admitted to being surprised about. But he disguises his surprise with a somewhat gruff exterior that is highlighted by his texas based accent. Granted it is not a heavy accent, but just enough of one to cause other officers to refer to him as a cowboy of sorts. He has a tenedency to act rashly, but all the while, some can tell his mind is actually plotting out several different tactical approaches to any situation at any time.
Kenneth serves as the Commanding officer of the USS Yorktown. It is a task he takes to heart. He can be seen conversing with anyone, even enlisted personnel. He's even been known to tend bar on occasion on board the Yorktown just for fun. But he does this with the belief that a commander that knows his crew well, will be better suited to protect his crew. And that they will do the same thing for him.
Strengths & Weaknesses Edit
Strengths - High Level of Tactical Prowess, Expert in hand to hand combat tactics, MACO trained but never served in a squad.
Weaknesses -Deep emotional distress due to prior combat experiences. Never truly visible but a trained counselor would notice it.

2371-2380 Kenneth was born April 12, 2371 in the hill country region of Texas on Earth. His mother, Mary, died due to complications from childbirth. His father, David, was at the time a Starfleet Security Lieutenant and was away on duty. Kenneth spent his first years with his aunt and grandparents on their ranch where he learned to hunt as well as raise and train horses.
2380--2390 When he was 9 years old, David took Kenneth to live with him on the USS Challenger where David served as Chief Tactical Officer. Ken took an instant fascination in the ship, it's working and space itself. It was also during this time he trained in hand to hand combat, sniping and starship tactics with his father.
